We believe that the invitations of the Gospel, being spirit and life under the influence of the Holy Spirit, are intended only for those who have been made by the blessed Spirit to feel their lost state as sinners and their need of Christ as their Saviour, and to repent of and forsake their sins.

Isa 55:1, Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Pr 28:13, He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Mt 11:28-30, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Joh 6:37, All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. Joh 7:37, In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
