Where’s Your Treasure?
Where’s your treasure, fellow – traveler,
That from which you would not part?
Is it in your iron coffers?
If it be, there is your heart.
Is it in your dear relations?
Is it in your house or land?
Is it in your pleasant gardens?
If it be, it will not stand.
Is it in your finest paintings?
Is it in your choicest wine?
Is it in your sinful pleasures?
If it be, it must decline.
Is it in your gaudy dresses?
Is it in your proud attire?
Is it in your genteel fashions?
If it be, ’twill end in fire.
Is it in a bare profession?
Is it in a formal creed?
Is it in your church or chapel?
If it be,’twill fail indeed.
Where’s your treasure, fellow – traveler?
Is it in the Savior’s blood?
Is it in His spotless raiment?
If it be, your treasure’s good.
Where’s your treasure, fellow – traveler,
That from which you could not part?
Is it in the blessed Jesus?
If it be, there is your heart.
